mood: tired but happy
music: Moulin Rouge! soundtrack (I'm broke, but I can't wait to buy the second one so I'll have "Spectacular, Spectacular"

The above is a pathetic attempt at copying LiveJournal. I desparately want one, so if you have a code and want to give it to me, I'd be v. happy. In the mean time I'll keep blogging away. So let's take a look at today...

I got home around 0100 from the late night escapade. We had our little fun and then went to Steak n' Shake, which is the foulest wannabe 50s diner ever, but is redeemed by staying open 24 hours a day. Hanging out with Ali and Holly is an experience unto itself, because they are so witty. Whenever I'm around them, I'm reminded of Catullus and his circle (I would use the right term, but I can't think of how to spell it). They all try so hard to be venustus and urbane and sophisticated with their double entendre and little jokes and things, and Holly and Ali just are so quick and sarcastic. Anyways, when I got home, I went straight for my computer (I should name it) and read Chapter Fourteen of Lori's The Show That Never Ends. It was great, I alternately was repulsed by the emotional disattachment and melted into the warm/fuzzies at the sweet bits. I'm dying to see what happens in Hero With A Thousand Faces.

So I slept in today (so rare) before getting up and cleaning the house, which was about as exciting as burnt toast. The only high point of cleaning was washing my truck, which, while it yet to miraculously change into a Corvette, looks much better now that I washed, vacuumed, and detailed it.

So I finally took a shower, which did nothing to remove the lingering scent of Chlorox (sp?), and then checked my e-mail.

I read chapter 10 of The Ship, which is so predictable. I don't know if I'm being spoiled on FictionAlley, or if Star Wars fic quality has just plummeted, but the Mara and Luke list hasn't produced any magnum opus lately. Even Michelle, who started out so great with Book I of Journey of Discovery just nose dived in Book II. On a higher fanfic note, it seems it never rains but it pours, because in the wake of reading STNE last night, today I read the latest chapter of HP and the Time of Good Intentions (I never cease to be amazed that Barb can go off on six zillion tangents and still never lose my interest), Resolution (it's just lovely...I don't think I'll ever leave the S.S. Guns and Handcuffs), and...crap, I know there was one more and I'm drawing this mammoth blank. Oh well, I'm sure you don't care anyways.

So I dragged myself away from the FA Underground, and went to see Nicole perform at her drumline competition. Now, I've known we had a really good band and colorguard, and how the band people are all into band, but this was really amazing. I think it's so incredible how you can never hear of something, and yet it has this entire cult following of people. I guess I should be used to it, people always give me weird looks when I talk about competing in Latin, even though there are over 20,000 Latin students in the United States alone. But I digress, this drumline thing was really cool, even though I know nothing about drumming. Each show had a theme and cheoreography, and they all had a few people who weren't even drumming, just acting. It was pretty cool, and our group won their division, which was great because this was their first competition in it, because they just were moved up.

So then I went out to dinner with Kristin, Nicole, and Marissa. Nicole and Marissa are my roommates next year, and Marissa is hunting for our apartment. We'll see how that goes. People say never to live with your friends, and I agree. I'm not really good friends with them, we just get along and all need somewhere to live, so I think it will do nicely.

In other news, I've been toying around with the idea of trying to interview fanfic authors and profile them in a series of articles right here on my blog. I came up with this idea a few weeks ago, but I wasn't sure how I would do it, so I kind of put it on the back burner. So much of interviewing has to do with interpreting and noting facial movements, vocal changes, and body language that I'm not sure how well I can do through typing, but I came up with some feasible ideas, so I e-mailed some of the people I would like to talk to, and the response was very encouraging. If there is anyone you would like me to interview, e-mail me.

Okay, that was a gargantuan blog, so I'll go read everyone's LJ's and try to find something cute to put on mine. -Morgan
